Welcome/Social — general, cove, and platform lighting support safe circulation and normal room use.

Pre-show — general lighting transitions toward the screening state while the AV system starts and confirms that required devices are ready.

Screening — image-compromising light is reduced while safety and step lighting required by the applicable local rules remain available. HVAC may move to a commissioned quiet mode if ventilation and comfort requirements remain satisfied.

Intermission/Pause — cove and step lighting rise to reviewed levels. A contemporary theater may add a restrained accent wash where it does not affect safe movement or restart viewing.

Credits/Exit — lighting returns gradually to the social or exit state. Levels, color temperature, fade time, and triggers should be commissioned in the finished room with the client and responsible professionals.

Motorized Screen and Masking Systems

A tab-tensioned motorized screen can drop from a ceiling-recessed housing and use side tensioning to maintain a flat viewing surface. Confirm the current manufacturer specifications for screen material, housing dimensions, control interface, deployment noise, service access, and compatibility with the projector and room.

Masking and lens coordination vary by screen, projector, and controller. Determine supported aspect ratios, masking material and movement, position feedback or limits, and control commands from the exact product documentation, then commission every required preset.

Projector lens memory can store zoom, focus, and shift positions for supported aspect ratios. Where reliable metadata and control interfaces are available, the control system can recall a verified lens preset and coordinate it with the masking position. Transition behavior must be tested with the specified projector, source chain, screen, and control system.

HVAC Noise Control

The target background-noise criterion must be defined for the room and verified using the applicable acoustic method. Duct dimensions, air velocity, diffuser selection, silencers, fan control, and vibration isolation should be coordinated by the mechanical and acoustic professionals for the required airflow, temperature, indoor-air quality, and noise performance.

Automation can request a quieter HVAC operating mode during screening, but it must not bypass ventilation, equipment protection, condensation control, or occupant-comfort requirements. Commission the mode under representative thermal and occupancy conditions and document how the system returns to normal operation.
